The Nelson Bubble Lamps are characterized by their elegant lampshade, set on a sturdy steel base that can be optionally covered with a walnut finish. An easy-to-use on/off pull chain with a solid walnut end completes the design. Additionally, the lamp includes an 86-inch long cord for convenient plug-in use.
The inspiration for these lamps dates back to 1952, when Nelson was captivated by a set of Swedish hanging lamps. Their high price tag prompted him to create his own version, leading him to innovate a process that replaced their silk shades with a translucent plastic material. This material allowed the lamps to be produced at a more affordable price, making them widely accessible and popular.

This lamp sits on a table between two armchairs. Its tall enough that people in the chairs can see each other so its great for group gatherings, but slim that it doesnt look oversized in our smallish space. The base is stable, and the lamp doesnt lean (for the price I did wonder if that might become an issue over time). Its functioned perfectly for a year now. The light it gives off is soft, definitely not a reading lamp, but perfect for this use. The light slightly penetrates the stem, giving it a bit of an ombr look when lit. I wish it came in more colors!
